This Privacy Policy explains how BuzzMedia Inc. ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use our websites and mobile applications (together, the "Service"). It also describes your rights and how to exercise them.

Overview

We are a Canadian company. We collect information you provide when registering and using the Service, along with information collected automatically from your device. We use this information to operate the Service, match Members with each other, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations. We share information with other Members (per your visibility settings), with service providers, and where required by law. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms and Conditions.

A Special Note About Children

Children are not eligible to use our services, and we ask that minors (under the age of 18) do not submit any personal information to us. If you are a minor (under the age of 18), you are not eligible use this service in any situation, even with the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Information We Collect

This section describes the categories of information we collect when you register and use the Service, and the sources of that information. From time to time, we may feature Members' profiles in our editorials and newsletters (without using your real name or contact details).

Information You Give Us

You choose to provide us with certain information when using our services. Including :

• We will ask you for your birthday, gender, current location and email address.

• Optionally, you may choose to provide us with photos of yourself, your gender preference, country of origin, ethnicity and religion. Where you provide such information to us, you consent to us using it for the purposes laid out in this Privacy Policy. You can also share with us additional information, such as details on your interests, lifestyle, personality, a bio and other details about you.

• Should you choose to use the communication features of our service, you will provide us with texts, photos, videos, audio recordings and other media types, that you send to other members when using the communication features of our service.

Your birthday and email address are confidential and will not be posted in your profile. Your profile is available for other members to view.

All the information you provide us, including your personally identifiable information will be uploaded to, stored and processed on our computers, and/or the computers of our service providers.

Retention. We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law:

  • • Active accounts: while your account is active.
  • • Inactive accounts: if you do not log in for 60 consecutive months, we may deactivate and delete your account.
  • • Deleted accounts: most data is removed within 30 days; a basic identifier and reason for deletion may be retained for up to 12 months to prevent re-registration after a Terms violation and to comply with legal obligations.
  • • Suspended accounts (for Terms violations): retained for the duration of the suspension to investigate and to prevent repeat accounts.
  • • Backups: routine backups are deleted on our standard rotation schedule; deletion requests propagate to backups as those backups are overwritten.
  • • CSAM-related evidence: retained and shared with authorities as required by law.

Information We Receive From Other Parties

• We will receive a social media identifier to create and login to your profile (Facebook, Google or Apple).

• You may decide to upload to our Services information from your social media accounts such as photos.

Generated or Automatically Collected Information

Device Information and Identifiers :

• We may collect and pass to third parties advertising identifiers linked to your device.

• We automatically track certain information based upon your behavior on our Apps and Websites using cookies and other methods. We use this information for fraud prevention, security and internal research on our members' demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand and serve you and our community. This information may include your device type, operating system version and type, certain device settings, device time zone, current IP address and platform-specific advertising identifiers.

Location : We may also collect location information, with your consent, such as your device GPS coordinates, unless you configure your device operating system settings to prevent our collection of location information. Your location information will be uploaded to, stored and processed on our computers, and/or the computers of our service providers.

Cookies : We use cookies and similar technologies on our Apps and Websites. Cookies are small data files stored on your device that help us provide and improve our services, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and personalise content. Some cookies expire at the end of your browsing session ("session cookies"); others persist longer ("persistent cookies"). You can manage or block cookies through your browser or device settings. Where required by law (for example, in the EU/EEA, UK, and Quebec), we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies and similar technologies on your device.

We use third party advertising companies, to serve ads on our behalf across the Internet. The third party may also collect limited information about your visits to our apps and Websites.

  • • Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to apps and website.
  • • Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to apps and sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

Photo Processing and Face Detection

When you upload photos to the Service, those photos are processed by image-analysis service providers (such as Microsoft Cognitive Services and Google Cloud Vision) to perform face detection — to confirm a face is present and to flag non-compliant content. This is face detection only: we do not perform face recognition, do not create or store any facial template or embedding, and do not use the analysis to identify you across services. Analytics

We use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how Members use the Service, so we can improve it. These services use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your device, browser, IP address, and how you interact with the Service. They do not receive your name, email address, or payment information. Information collected by analytics services may be transmitted to and stored on servers outside your country of residence, including in the United States.


How We Use Information We Collect

We use information in the files we maintain about you, and the other information we obtain from your current and past activities on the Service to :

 • Deliver the products and services that you have requested;

 • Manage your account and provide you with customer support;

 • Resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, and enforce our Terms and Conditions;

 • Enhance the services we offer, provide targeted advertising, and help us understand how people use the Site and Services;

 • Identify Members with multiple Member ID numbers or aliases when investigating problems or resolving disputes;

 • Improve our marketing and promotional efforts, analyse site usage, improve our content and product offerings, and customise the Service's content, layout, and features;

 • Contact you and deliver information to you (which may be targeted to your interests), such as targeted banner advertisements, administrative notices, product offerings, and communications relevant to your use of the Service.

Legal bases (EU/UK/EEA users). For users in jurisdictions that require a stated legal basis (such as the EU, EEA, and UK under GDPR / UK GDPR), we rely on the following:

  • • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): to create and manage your account, show your profile to other Members, deliver the Service, and provide customer support.
  • • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a); Art. 9(2)(a) for sensitive data): for the sensitive profile fields you choose to provide (such as religion, ethnicity, gender preference, and precise location), photo processing and selfie verification, marketing emails, and non-essential cookies where required.
  • • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): for fraud and abuse detection, security, analytics and product improvement, targeted advertising (where consent is not required, with an opt-out), and enforcing our Terms. We have balanced these interests against your rights and freedoms; you can object at any time.
  • • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): to comply with legal requests, retain certain records as required by law, report CSAM, and respond to law enforcement.

Opting-Out

If you do not want information we collect to be linked to your device, you may go to your device “settings” and opt out of interest-based or personalized advertising.  You may also prevent location information from being collected by this or other Service, through your device settings (but this may affect the functionality of certain Service features).

How we Share Information

The main sharing of your information is with other members utilizing the Service. We also share some types of information with our service partners as outlined below. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share limited categories of personal information (identifiers, internet/usage information, and inferences) with advertising partners for targeted advertising, which qualifies as "sale" or "sharing" under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and as "sale" under some other state laws. You can opt out — see the Opting-Out section above and the California rights described in this Policy, or contact us via the 'Contact Us' / 'Feedback' page on the Service.

Due to the existing regulatory environment, we cannot ensure that all of your private communications and other personally identifiable information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. By way of example (without limiting the foregoing), we may be required to disclose information to the government, law enforcement agencies, or third parties. Under certain circumstances, third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications, or Members may abuse or misuse your information that they collect from our Service. Therefore, although we use industry-standard practices to protect your privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personally identifiable information or private communications will always remain private.

Service Providers Other Than Advertising. We use a number of service providers to operate and facilitate offering the Services. This includes, but is not limited to, hosting, image processing, security and payment processing.

Advertisers. We share limited categories of personal information with mobile and web advertising partners to serve and measure relevant ads, including device and advertising identifiers (such as IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android), IP address, app/site usage data, and inferences about your interests. These partners may use cookies, SDKs, pixel tags, and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, and may combine information they receive from us with information from other sources. We do not share your name, email address, password, or messages with advertising partners. As explained in the "How we Share Information" section above, this sharing may qualify as "sale" or "sharing" under the California CCPA and similar laws; you can opt out as described in this Policy and in the Opting-Out section.

Advertisers - Google Account. If you choose to turn on certain Google Account features, then data from your web browsing or app activity will be associated with your Google Account and used to serve you more relevant personalized ads.

Corporate Transactions. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honour this Privacy Policy, or we will give you a meaningful choice if the new owner wants to use your information in a materially different way.

Legal Requests. we cooperate with law enforcement inquiries, as well as other third parties to enforce laws, such as: intellectual property rights, fraud and other rights. We can (and you authorize us to) disclose any information about you to law enforcement and other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate, in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringements, or other activity that is illegal or may expose us or you to legal liability.

International Data Transfers

We are based in Canada. Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Canada, the United States, the European Union, and other countries where we or our service providers operate.

When we transfer personal information from the EU/EEA or the United Kingdom to a country that the European Commission or the UK government has not deemed to provide an adequate level of protection, we use appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, for UK transfers, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the SCCs. If you are a Quebec resident: before transferring your personal information outside Quebec, we conduct an assessment of the privacy protections in the destination jurisdiction and apply contractual or other safeguards where required by Quebec Law 25.

What are your Data Protection Rights?

Our Company would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request Our Company for copies of your personal data.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Our Company correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Our Company to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Our Company erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that Our Company restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Our Company’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that Our Company transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

The right to opt out of sale or sharing (California) – If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (California) – If you are a California resident, you have the right to limit our use of sensitive personal information to certain purposes (such as providing the Service). We only use sensitive personal information for such purposes; if this changes, we will make a "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" link available.

The right to non-discrimination – We will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising any of these rights.

The right to lodge a complaint – You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. If you are in the EU/EEA, contact your national data protection authority (list at edpb.europa.eu/about-edpb/about-edpb/members_en); if you are in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk; if you are in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec at cai.gouv.qc.ca.

Your Use of other Members Information

Our services also include access to messaging and communication tools. As a member you have access to the Member's ID No., and you might gain access to other contact information of the Member(s) through the regular use of the messaging and communication tools. By accepting this Privacy Policy, you agree that, with respect to other Members' personally identifiable information that you obtain through messaging and communication tools, We hereby grants to you a license to use such information only for: (a) Your Company related communications that are not unsolicited commercial messages, and (b) any other purpose that such member expressly agrees to after adequate disclosure of the purpose(s). In all cases, you must give Members an opportunity to remove themselves from your database and a chance to review what information you have collected about them. In addition, under no circumstances, except as defined in this Section, can you disclose personally identifiable information about another member to any third party without our consent and the consent of such other member after adequate disclosure. We and our members do not tolerate spam. Therefore, without limiting the foregoing, you are not licensed to add a member to your mail list (email or physical mail) without their express written consent after adequate disclosure. Email Preferences

Delete your information: Upon your request, we will remove your profile and contact information from our active databases. Such information will be deleted as soon as reasonably possible and in accordance with any applicable laws. To delete your profile, visit the Delete Profile page. Note that you must be logged in to perform this action. Please note that profiles that are suspended or blocked due to a violation of our terms of use or privacy policy are generally not eligible for deletion.

We will retain in our files information you have requested to remove for certain circumstances, such as to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our terms and conditions.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in any marketing email or by adjusting your account settings. You do not need to deactivate your account to unsubscribe from marketing emails. You will continue to receive transactional and service-related messages (such as password resets, security notices, and message notifications) for as long as your account is active. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for unsubscribe requests to fully take effect across our systems. Other Information Collectors

Except as otherwise expressly included in this Privacy Policy, this document only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. To the extent that you disclose your information to other parties, whether they are on our Apps or on other sites throughout the Internet, different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of the information you disclose to them. To the extent that we use third party advertisers, they adhere to their own privacy policies. Since we do not control the privacy policies of the third parties, you are subject to ask questions before you disclose your personal information to others.

Security

We use industry standard practices to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable information, including "firewalls" and Transport Layer Security (TLS). We treat data as an asset that must be protected against loss and unauthorized access. We employ many different security techniques to protect such data from unauthorized access by members inside and outside the company. However, "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet.

Changes to this Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time based on your comments and our need to accurately reflect our data collection and disclosure practices. All changes to this policy are effective after they appear on the site.
