More and more Indians have landed in Australia in recent years, as well as Iranians, Iraqis, Afghans and Somalis.
In 1964, the Australian Islamic Council was founded, known as the "Confederal Islamic Council" since 1975.
In 2011, the census estimated the Muslim population in Australia at 476,291 people, or 2.2% of the population.
The majority of Muslims are settled in the Cocos Islands, New South, Victoria and western Australia.
