According to the Irish press of the year 1950, the country of three-leaf clover and Catholic roots housed some Turkish Muslims at the beginning of the twentieth century.

At the dawn of the 1960s, Muslim students in Dublin created the "Dublin Islamic Society", the first Islamic society, known nowadays as the "Islamic Foundation of Ireland".

In 1976, an Islamic center was built with several financings, mainly those of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia.

Twenty years ago, 4,000 Muslims lived on the ground of the green Erin. And since 2006, Islam is booming, and the number of faithful is increasing each year more and more. Indeed, in 2011, the Muslim population rose by 51% and Muslims are estimated to be about 49,204 individuals (1.1% of the Irish population).

According to a study by the "Irish Independent" newspaper, Ireland observes an increase in conversion to Islam of up to 500 new Muslims each year.

Several recent studies suggest that in 30 years Islam will become the second religion of the country.
